How to Add a Teams Meeting to Google Calendar

In short: install the Microsoft Teams meeting add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace to create Teams meetings directly from Google Calendar (a Microsoft work or school account is required). Otherwise, create the meeting in Teams and paste its link in the Google Calendar event.

Option 1: the Teams meeting add-on for Google Workspace

  1. In Google Calendar, open the side panel and select + (Get add-ons).
  2. Search for Teams, select Microsoft Teams meeting, then Install and accept the permissions.
  3. Sign in with your Microsoft work or school account.
  4. When you create an event, choose the Teams meeting as the conferencing option: the join link is added to the event.

Limits stated by Microsoft: it needs a work or school account, the meetings stay in your Google calendar (they do not sync with Outlook), and some features such as passcode generation or AI notes are not available. Your Google Workspace administrator may also have to allow the add-on.

Option 2: paste the link in the event

  1. Create the meeting in Teams (calendar or Meet now → Get a link to share): see how to create a Teams meeting link.
  2. In Google Calendar, create the event and paste the link in the location or the description.

This works with any account, including Teams free. A short link keeps the event readable on phones, where long addresses are cut in the event preview.

See your Google events in Teams or Outlook

The Teams calendar only shows your Microsoft 365 calendar. To see Google events next to it, add your Google calendar to Outlook with its private iCal address (in Google Calendar settings), knowing that this view is read-only.

FAQ

Does the add-on work with a personal Google account?

The add-on is installed in Google Calendar, but it needs a Microsoft work or school account to create Teams meetings.

Can guests on Google Calendar join a Teams meeting?

Yes. They click the link in the event and join in the browser or the Teams app, without a Microsoft account if the organizer allows it.
